Saw
This piece of title sequence is from an independent horror film, the Saw directed by James Wan. The first thing that I like about this piece is the music because it's very tense and it gives me a little bit of fright listening to it. It's not a really loud soundtrack but I think it's very booming and some parts of it are ear-piercing. There are some additional sound effects that are added on in this piece such as, people screaming and clock ticking. Before you see any images, you hear a sound of someone screaming and it's very frightening to me.And even if you have never seen this film, just listening to the sound effects will make you think that there is something strange and scary happening in this film. When it comes to all the images and footage that has been used for this piece, I like those a lot. I like all the images that flicker in at some point of the sequence and little scratches that look like they have been drawn on and then scanned through and put into the film. At the beginning of the title, I really like the old piece of a prop that they have used. I don't know what that piece of equipment is but it looks really old and rustic and a little bit strange and in my opinion it goes really well with the genre of the film. Also I like the footage with the clock on the wall. I really like how it's positioned and I also like the lighting that has been used for this scene. It's dark but at the same time you can still see the clock and what time it's showing. There are a lot of flickering images coming through when the footage is frozen on the clock and I think it looks more interesting because it would be a little bit boring if there was nothing happening except from the clock hanging on the wall. In this piece there are a lot of images of street corners and big industrial buildings and in my opinion, the producer of this title sequence included those in, because in the actual film The Saw all those tricks and games that the Jigsaw is playing are either in some old buildings or in big industrial factories. I also like the font of the text that has been used. Although I like some of it because it looks like it's been scratched out on the paper and then put on the film, some of it is a different font and in my opinion it doesn't suit the piece, because it looks like a regular font that is used for all text. I would of kept the same font throughout the whole title sequence. What I liked the most about this piece is all the flickering between the scenes and some of the text that is brought in throughout the whole piece and I am thinking about interpreting those techniques in my own title sequence.
Sinister
This title sequence is from a slasher horror Sinister which was directed by Scott Derrickson. I really like this title sequence because it has a very creepy, old but interesting feel to it. Personally,my favorite part of this piece is the music that they have used. I think that it is a really interesting piece of a soundtrack. I like that at the beginning and in the middle of this piece the music is the same, a quiet but booming sound but then towards the end you can hear some voices in the background and I think that's what makes the whole piece interesting, because you don't expect any addition to the sound and then you start to hear some voices but you don't know what they're saying. Another favorite of mine in this title sequence is the way it has been filmed and all the filters that has been put on it. For example, the filter that makes this piece look like it was projected from an old projector. In the actual film the main character does find a box with a projector and old films in it and he watches them to find out the horrific images of family's being murdered. I also like that some of the things in this title sequence are highlighted such as the word Bughuul, some of the images that are drawn in the books and the Bughuul signs.I like that there is a lot of flickering in this piece, it makes it look more interesting and in my opinion you're more caught up with what is going on because everything is so quick rather than watching one thing for a long period of time. I think that the color scheme that was chosen for this piece is really good too, because if it was to be a different color or colorful in general it wouldn't be as powerful as it is black&white. The font of the text is also very interesting and in my opinion it goes really well with the genre of the film and how everything has been filmed. This title sequence has inspired me to add some flickering effects to my piece of work and also because I liked the font a lot I am wanting to find a text similar to this one.
Insidious
The first title sequence is from the first film Insidious, directed by James Wan.The first thing that I like about this piece is the illusion at the beginning where you can see a white ball but then after a while, the camera turns around and the ball is actually a lamp shade that is in the little boy's room. I think that this title sequence is quite frightening and creepy because of the way it was filmed which was in the dark and some of the moments in this piece are very scary such as when the music is building up and the camera goes in another room and in the window you can see a woman's shadow but then it disappears. Also the music plays a big part in this piece. At the beginning it's very quiet but then when the camera it staring to move to a different direction, the music is starting to build up and it gets louder and in my opinion it gets more ear-piercing that it was before and you expect something to happen or someone to jump out from the corner but it doesn't and instead you see a candle light and think that's all but then if you look closer you see a scary person behind the candle and I think that that scene is quiet scary and then the music is building up again and at the end it's very loud. There isn't a lot of typography in this piece and I think that it's plain but it suits the title sequence.
The second title sequence has also been directed by James Wan and it is also Insidious but this is a second chapter. I think that this title sequence is not as scary as the first one because there are still images in this one and they are not as scary as moving images are. Also the music that they have used is the same as the first one and it builds up the tension in your mind because you think something is about to happen as it did in the first title sequence but nothing happens. Also there is a lot more text in this piece than the other one and I like that it's red because I think that it goes with the black&white theme that this whole title sequence has.

American Horror Story
This is my favorite title sequence out of all the ones that I have watched. What I like about this piece the most is the way some of the footage has been flickered in and I think it makes it look really interesting and intriguing.I like that everything was filmed relatively quickly and nothing stays the same for a long time because I think if it did it wouldn't be as fascinating as it is. Some of the sequences that I have watched, my favorite part of it is the music, because I think that's what makes any piece very strong and the music in this specific piece is quiet at the beginning but then it gets loud and booming and also there is some flickering in the soundtrack and the person who made this piece put the flickering footage together with the flickering sound and I think that it goes really well together. Another thing that I like about this piece is that everything is kind of in a color scheme. There are no bright colors in this video, they are all subtle and they remind me of old fashioned films. I like that there is a lot of flickering between the images because it keeps the audience interested and not getting bored of watching this piece. One thing that I don't really like about this piece is the font that is being used. To me personally it isn't a font that I would use for a serial killer type of film or a scary film because I think it's really bald and a little bit distracting when it's been thrown in between the footage. If I was to make the same title sequence i would use a different type of a font and also make it a little bit smaller so the audience isn't distracted by the big, bald letters that flicker through when you're watching this piece. Like I have mentioned, I really like the different footage being flickered in some parts of this video and for my final piece I am wanting some of my footage to flicker in as well, because I think that it makes the whole piece more interesting.
The Walking Dead
This is a title sequence from a post-apocalyptic horror drama TV series, The Walking Dead. One thing that really fascinates me about this piece is the way it was filmed. I think that it's calm and some of the footage is very pretty and is totally opposite of what this show is about, but then some of the shots such as the graves and the scary close of a zombie eye are a little bit terrifying and they get you in the right mood to watch the series. I also like that some of the footage has been put through a time laps because I think that if I was to watch the whole title sequence without the footage being faster than it normally would be, I would get bored looking at the same footage for a long period of time. It makes the audience be more interested in what's going to happen when the trailer or the title sequence for the film is fast and a little bit odd. One thing that I didn't really like about this piece is the music. I think it's very interesting and it goes with the piece but I think it's not as powerful as it could have been. Maybe the person who made this could have used a more scarier or more louder soundtrack for this title sequence. I like the font that has been used for this piece. I like that it's not very bold and big because I think it would distract the person watching the piece itself, because they would be concentrating on the titles that are included in the sequence. And I also like that the titles have been placed in those areas where there isn't a lot of things happening. Because I think that if they would to put the text over some important or intriguing footage people wouldn't be able to see the titles or the footage itself.
The Conjuring
This title sequence is from a supernatural horror film directed by Jame Wan. This title sequence is different from others because it consists of images and photographs. Some of them look like they have been scanned through a scanner or put on top of the light box and then added on some layers of the same or different images. Personally, I really like that technique and I think it's very unique, because it almost gives the image a character and some dimension to it. Although I do think that it is a little bit boring because the images stay still for quite a while and there isn't a lot of flickering or flashing in this title sequence, it's very calm but scary and creepy at the same time, in my opinion. One thing that I find very unusual is, how after one image, the person is changing it to a different image or scan and you can't see any traces of the last image on the light box. I think that makes this piece very captivating. Another unique thing that I like in this video is how this person has one image on the light box and then he just flicks it and it has a different image to what it was before. Those techniques are very interesting and I would like to explore them more in the future.I think that the music is very suitable for this piece. It's a quiet soundtrack and in the middle of this piece it goes really quiet so the person who is watching this is turning the sound up but then it goes really loud and makes the person be scared or be nervous for the rest of the video. I think that the font of the titles is pretty simple and isn't very interesting but it goes really well with this title sequence.
